Beautifully and very gracefully formed stylized Trifanium plated leaf has amazing exquisite detail, glimmer, sparkle and shine.
Leaf has a textured brushed gold tone finish with open cuts through the leaf. There is also openwork surrounding and framing the inner leaf section. Crystal clear sparkling pave set chaton rhinestones in graduated sizes, ending with teeny tiny rhinestones at the stem, outline the entire leaf.
Setting the stones so perfectly had to be a delicate and painstaking task. All rhinestones have wonderful brilliance - there are no dead or darkened stones.
Probably dates from the 1950's. Back is marked Trifari with Crown above and ©. Measures 2-5/8" x 1-7/8". Condition is very good. Only very slight wear on the pin shaft itself.
This design is so magnificent that I believe it just had to be designed by Alfred Philippe. Trifari patented "Trifanium" in 1940. It was a process of plating jewelry, giving it the look of silver or gold. It also protected the jewelry piece so that the finish and beauty would be long lasting.
