Lucite Red Flowers in Basket Brooch and Earrings Three large beautiful red flowers with an abundance of two tone green leaves and vines are the motif of this nifty brooch. A lovely white open work basket is holding the floral arrangement, with flowers and leaves flowing over the basket. Usually the flowers imbedded inside Lucite brooches have no basket or other detailing.
The dimensional deeply reverse floral carvings have the most delicate and precise features that I have come across in a Lucite brooch. Each tiny rose leaf has the finest detail, edges are extremely distinctive and the leaves themselves are carved as found in nature having a slightly concave center.
Behind the leaves are sprays of lighter green vines with buds.
This brooch has a bit more detail than most Lucite with flower brooches.
Pin has eight sides and rather than being worn in a squared position, it has more of a diamond shape when worn.
Photos show how it looks when worn on both grey and black.
Even the placement of the pin mechanism is something to behold. Although running east to west directly through the clear Lucite center, the work has been so artistically done that the pin itself is virtually invisible.
Pin measures 2-3/8” and is a good 1/4" in thickness.
The accompanying earrings are not a true match to the brooch, but they are lovely and the pieces go well together. I just threw them in with the brooch because they look nice together.
Earrings measure 3/4". One screw back has been glued on the back a little bit off kilter, but looks and fits the ear well.
Condition is very good vintage having the very, very slightest of any wear.
