Very good quality vintage brooch, probably from the 1940's or earlier, is composed of a circle of cultured pearls, each separated by a gold spacer ring. This exquisite brooch took a lot of time and patience to make, because two pearls were placed on a wire and then threaded through a loop that is affixed to the gold filled base. This process has been repeated several times until a continuous circle of pearls has been formed, each having shimmering gold between each pearl.
A cluster of four larger pearls with tiny little pearls in the center has been hand wired to the wreath. Leaf accents can be seen on either side of this cluster.
Pearls have shades of three colors, soft cream, light grey and very light pink. Some photos pick up a bit more color than seen with my eye. The shadings and colors soft and are very nice and blend together well. All pearls have a lovely luster.
Brooch is very well constructed and of a good weight. It is not thin or flimsy by any means. It's just gorgeous. Back frame is marked H.G.1/20 12 KG. Measures 1-1/2".
