Elegant dimensional brooch features a glorious stylized Eagle fashioned in pave' set clear chaton rhinestones. Rhinestones are set inside raised rhodium plated borders that are especially detailed on the wings and tail. I know that eagles do not have tails as long as this brooch shows it to be, but other features definitely look like an eagle. Plus, I believe that only eagles and doves are known to be birds of peace holding an olive branch.
The bird's body was made in two sections. Notice how each wing is separate from the other. Viewed from the underside of the brooch, you can see how the back wing has been attached to bird by rivets Heavy rhodium plating covers the rivets. In the photo marked with a large red dot, it appears that the cabochon is chipped at the edge. This is not the case. It is only the ripple effect of the rhinestones on the wing as seen from this angle.
This is truly remarkable craftsmanship and complexity of design.
Eagle's eye is a bright ruby red rhinestone.
His belly is a large translucent Lucite blue sapphire cabochon. It is not transparent, but does allow light to show through it. When held up to the light, it seems to glow. It is of the finest quality Lucite, giving the impression of fine glass. If it were clear lucite, it would be a true jelly belly.
Very delicately done enamel work has been done on the beak, talons and olive leaves. You can see two little rhinestone olives rising upward from the leaves.
Exceptional high quality figural design gives the impression of fine jewelry. All stones sparkle and are original to the piece. No dead or dull stones.
This bird is absolutely magnificent in every way possible.
Measures 2-7/8" in length x 1-5/8" in height and has a rise of 3/4". Rhodium plating is stamped Coro on the back.
If you could see this in person, it would knock your socks off.
