Dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, the doll has a bisque head and soft body. The body covering looks like leather but is some kind of flexible plastic or perhaps rubber. The doll has brown glass eyes that are fixed and a bit cross-eyed, open mouth but missing one tooth, painted brows and lashes, and cute dimpled chin. She stands 13 inches tall and has no visible markings.
The doll is dressed as little Red Riding hood with a satiny red cape, flowered dress, slip, pants, socks and hardened rubber boots. One boot is stuck and we have left it in place but appears to have a sock underneath. The wig is matted and the bangs at some point have been badly cut presumably by a child. A hand crocheted basket is attached to the hand with a single stitch. It has a bit of checkered red and white cloth and a penny from 1949 inside. The latter is likely to hold the shape but may also give some indication of when the basket and outfit were made.
Please note that we are not doll dealers but have picked up several vintage and antique dolls in our travels over the years that I found too appealing to leave behind. We are now downsizing and planning on listing the dolls as found. Please view all the photos as an important part of the description and feel free to ask any questions.
