The beautifully colored centerpiece in this vintage Scottish brooch looks like cairngorm but tests as paste. It is richly colored and faceted, and sits high of the engraved silver surround inlaid with opaque brownish red, green bloodstone, and blue montrose agates. The traditional Scottish brooch is oval and measures 1.5 inches by 1.125 inches and approximately .5 inches deep. Marked Silver Scotland on the reverse, it tests as sterling and weighs 10.8 grams. The brooch has a safety catch and slightly extended pin, and dates from the early years of the twentieth century. There is a small chip in the paste that can be seen in the magnified photos and we have reduced the price to reflect it however this is not noticeable when the brooch is worn and does not detract from this gorgeous celebration of Scottish heritage.
