This antique porcelain wax seal or writers sceau is engraved with an M or W monogram and attractive edging. It is exceptionally pretty and unusual in that the handle is porcelain rather than the more common wood, metal or hardstone. It was no doubt a woman's and is small in size measuring just 1.875 inches high. The porcelain handle is egg shaped and beautifully decorated in soft pastel blue, pink, and creamy yellow with wonderful raised gold accents including snowflakes. This very feminine seal dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. There is very minor wear to the gilt that does not detract and otherwise the seal is in excellent condition and would make a wonderful desk accessory or special addition to a collection of letter stamps.
