The centerpiece in this antique mourning brooch sits high of the concave top on the 19th century three dimensions domed brooch. It consists of a single oval aquamarine surrounded by eight round aquamarine gemstones, the cluster measuring in total approximately half an inch by three quarters of an inch. The color of the gemstones is very light and in some lighting, they look crystal clear and in others a pale aquamarine blue. The surrounding yellow gold is elaborately detailed with fine beading, twisted rope, gently curled foliate, and raised patterned circles. The back has a glassed compartment for hair or photo of a loved one. The sentimental brooch measures approximately one and a quarter inches by one and five eighths inches and has a c-clasp with extended pin. It is not marked but tests at 14 karat gold and weighs 10.6 grams. This exquisite memorial brooch is in excellent condition with a wonderful warm glow.
