This is a Rare Dewees Cochran Composition Portrait Doll Barbara Lou 21 Inch Effanbee America’s Children. This gorgeous (largest size) 21 inch composition doll by Dewees Cochran is part of the Portrait Children produced by Effanbee in the 1930’s-40s. She is marked Effanbee/Anne Shirley to her back (the head was never marked). She is in untouched condition with no restorations or repairs. Please note that she does have some wear to her composition, some paint crazing to her face, no cracks, and her left hand ring finger is broken. She has been recently restrung. Barbara Lou has a blond mohair wig partially glued to the crown of her head. The sleep eyes are crazed and she is missing a few fur lashes from her left eye. She has a high quality chunky composition child body, an open mouth, feathered painted brows, unmarked head, separate fingers (a noted the one broken finger), dotted knuckles, original pink nails, and four teeth and red tongue. Someone a long time ago dressed her in a manufactured paisley print cotton romper and printed cotton dress (fade to the front). The romper and dress have the same colors but are not the same print. She also has long white knit stockings and what may be her original tan leather sandals. All her face paint is original with her lips having some wear. She is a beautiful large doll.
