This is an Old Sewing Pin Cushion Case Holder Blue Leather Burgundy Velvet Needles Pins Possibly Shaker Made. This little sewing item is a real treasure and possibly Shaker made. The United Society of Believers were a primarily 19th century religious society that became known as "the Shakers" because of the trembling and shaking of the members during prayer. Among other things, they produced many many sewing items to be sold to the outside world. Among them were sewing items like this one. Measuring only 1 inch in diameter and 3/4 of an inch thick, it was used as a pin cushion or pin keep. It is made of blue leather and burgundy velveteen trimmed with blue silk binding. Some of he blue leather has worn at the top and bottom.
