This is a C1930s Old Composition Dionne Quintuplets Doll Set of 5 Original Outfits in Box Unmarked. This is a wonderful set of 7 Inch dolls, complete in their original box. I’ve checked on the back and head and there are no markings so I don’t know who made them. The outfits don’t match any Madame Alexander quint dolls that I have seen, but the quality of the dolls is the same. The box has no identification marks as well, other than a price of $5. The dolls were never played with and each wears her original romper that has never been off her body. The bonnet has the original tied bow at the neck. The ribbon color of the bonnet matches the color of the collar and bootie ties. All the clothing is in cotton. Since the bonnets have always been on the head the hair paint looks untouched. All the dolls have been recently restrung. Similar to the Alexander quints the composition body is jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips. The facial paint is beautiful with side glance eyes (one doll in yellow has a paint chip to the left eye). The composition is in excellent condition. The dolls measure about 7 inches long with curved legs. The doll with the lavender bonnet needs some restitching to the top of the brim. There is very minor soiling/dust to the rompers back bottom from resting in the box. The dolls come in their original divided box (each corner of the lid has a break with an additional break on the side). In researching I could not locate a maker but Alexander, Effanbee, or Superior come to mind. The dolls are just wonderful and absolutely adorable, and were meant to resemble the Dionne quintuplets.
