This is a C1934 Ideal First Year Production Shirley Temple Composition Doll Stand Up and Cheer NRA Tagged Dress 18 Inch. This was the first Shirley Temple doll produced by Ideal, as she is marked C Ideal N&T Co to the back of her neck. This was the “test market” mark to see if the buying public would be interested in a Shirley Temple character doll. If not interested, the doll could then be sold as something else without the Shirley Temple connection. There are no marks to her back. Shirley has a fully-jointed, six-piece all composition body in excellent condition. This lovely doll was well-taken care of as she has some very very light paint crazing to her face with no composition splits. Her sleep eyes have crackled/crazed, but she has all her lashes and her eyes open and close nicely. Her stringing is tight. The curly blonde mohair wig is nice and full and thick with minimal dust and no moth damage. She also retains her original red hair bow. Shirley is wearing her original red and white polka dot organdy Stand Up and Cheer dancing dress from the movie “Stand Up and Cheer.” This was her movie musical break-out role. It has a bright Shirley Temple woven NRA dress tag. The dress itself is in excellent condition with two pinpoint-sized holes at the back hem, perhaps from a price tag. The white organdy part of the dress has some age yellowing to it. Underneath, she wears her original one-piece undies (some light aging to the fabric). Shirley has her original face paint, four teeth, and felt tongue. She also has her original tan leatherette center-snap shoes, but one of the snaps has torn from the strap (both parts of the snap are present). She has no socks. Nothing has been done to this doll and she is all original.
