This is a C1900 Antique Black Cloth Rag Doll Red Check Dress Museum Deaccession Embroidered Features 24 Inch. This wonderful 24 inch hand stitched black cloth doll was deaccessioned from the Boxford Historical Document Center Museum, Essex County Massachusetts. She bears their inventory tag #301 to the apron waist. She has a black cotton sateen cloth body that is jointed at the shoulders, knees elbows and hips. Although she is jointed at the hips, she was not meant to be a sitting doll due to the long length of her torso. Her hands are mitt hands with stitching to define the fingers. She is wonderful and all original dressed in her original red and white check dress (brighter in color under the apron), white organdy apron and scarf, white cotton half slip, red leather shoes and white stockings. She has a black caracul wig, button eyes, black embroidered nose and eyebrows, and buttonhole stitch red mouth with white teeth. There is some age staining here and there to the white slip and organdy apron as you would expect.
