This is an Old Round Sewing Pin Holder Watered Silk Ribbon All Beautifully Hand Stitched Possibly Shaker. The United Society of Believers were a primarily 19th century religious society that became known as "the Shakers" because of the trembling and shaking of the members during prayer. Among other things, they produced many many sewing items to be sold to the outside world. I have had many Shaker Community sewing items in the past made out of this watered silk ribbon. This pin case is extraordinarily hand stitched with pink ribbon around the side. Cardboard lines the top and bottom. The pins themselves are the early straight pins and came with the holder. It is in excellent condition and measures 2 3/8 inch in diameter. A collector item.
