This is a C1850s German 15 Inch Glass Eyed Wax Over Papier Mache doll with a bellows squeaker in the front of her torso (mute). The more modern hand stitched silk dress is sewn together on her, so it is difficult to get a close look at her body. She has a sawdust stuffed cloth body, replaced wooden arms with spoon type hands or just the fabric hinge at the shoulders was replaced?, un-jointed at the hip so she does not sit, and long slender sawdust stuffed legs ending with painted wooden lower limbs (painted white for stockings and painted orange feet for boots. There is a 1/2 inch tight hairline at the right shoulder. She has an Alice type blond molded hairstyle with painted black bow, long vertical rolled blond curls, a small chip to her left temple, a hint of molded ears, a wax plug to the top of her head, some wax crazing, black glass eyes, a wax ridge around each of the eyes, some painted blush to the cheeks, earring holes with drop earrings, some tan discoloration on the shoulder plate befitting her age, and a molded chin. Her turquoise silk costuming is hand stitched and made to fit the doll. It is not her original dress. She is also wearing long antique sheer white cotton muslin pantaloons which may be her original pantaloons. <
