This is an Old Norah Wellings Felt Doll of a Dutch Girl wearing her Original Outfit and a second prize pin. This unusual doll measures 15-1/2 inches and is marked on her left hand "Made in England/by/Norah Wellings." She is a very beautiful doll with a sewn patchwork felt costume, white organdy apron with felt floral appliques (a few small pinholes). Attached to the apron is a second prize ribbon from long ago. The color of the felt dress is remarkably bright considering its age. There are several small spots where moths have grazed on the surface but nothing large or major. She wears her white organdy Dutch cap with wire on the sides to make the cap ends stand up. This gorgeous doll has a peach-colored felt body with molded felt face. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips. Her mohair wig with braids has been protected all these years by the cap. The original yellow ribbons hold the braids in place. Her face is beautifully hand-painted with cheek blush, blue eyes, painted upper lashes, some eye shadow, brown brows, and pink lips. There may be a very tiny moth hole to the side of her nose (hard to tell). She has a touch of age dust to her but it appears that she never was displayed. The organdy has yellowed a bit as you would expect. She is also wearing undies, white knit socks, and yellow felt shoes. This is a very lovely doll.
