This is a 1959 Madame Alexander Cissette Doll in #916 the rare version of the Navy Blue Taffeta Dress. In her book Cissette A Complete Guide to the Madame Alexander Dolls by Marjorie E Merrod M.D., she states that this dress is a rare variation with the blue and white sheer dotted organdy puff sleeves, sash and pleated back inset. Other examples of this dress feature cotton puff sleeves, sash and back inset. The organdy has not aged tan in color either. The tagged dress is in super crisp clean condition. Cissette is a 9 1/2 inch hard plastic doll in pristine clean condition. She is also wearing her basic clean and pristine chemise under the dress. Under the chemise, her hard plastic torso has pink color transfer from something red that she once wore for a long time. It goes from the top of her chemise area to the top of her hips both front and back. Perhaps the original owner had more than one outfit for this beautiful doll. Nothing is seen as she is presently dressed. This outfit is probably not her original one. She is also wearing red elastic high heels and small rhinestone earrings. Her hard plastic body is super clean with tight joints, Her arms hold a pose and her zig zag stitched wig is absolutely beautiful. It is in the original Very Very Shiny set with long curls to the nape of her neck. She has high color to her cheeks, peach eyelids, full face paint and coral pink lips. When I compare her face to other Cissette dolls that I have, it appears that her facial color is a bit lighter around the eyes and forehead area, something that can happen to these dolls from age. The box is marked 800, pink, tosca so it probably was not her original box, but a box that she has ended up with. It is in perfect excellent condition.
