This wonderful modernist sterling silver ring is from the Plus Design Center in Norway. It is signed ND Norway/ Sterling/925S. The size is 5 1/4 (5.25 US), weighs 9.6 grams, and measures 32mm wide in the front.
I have been fortunate enough to acquire part of an old store stock inventory from a Norwegian woman who lived in the United States and sold Norway Plus jewelry here in the 1960's or so. She now has moved back to Norway permanently and sold her inventory stock here before she moved. What the photographs do not depict is how shiny and bright the silver is with no tarnish. The jewelry was never worn or owned by anyone and again was her store stock inventory. The pieces are in mint condition. The silver jewelry items also come with the original leather pouch or box with the Norway Plus Design logo. The letters in the title and description are my own inventory control number.
Mid Century Norway Designs: According to Fred Rezazadeh in his Collectible Silver Jewelry Book page 123 "Some of the jewelry by major Norwegian designers was first created for Norway Design Center at Plus in Fredrikstad. Norway Design was a large shop in Oslo with a branch also in Trondheim C1958. The company was established by Per Tannum. The aim of this center was to preserve and utilize traditional Norwegian arts and crafts. In the field of jewelry, new concepts with simple modern designs were introduced at Plus executed in gold silver and pewter. The common mark for Plus is superimposed letters "ND" which appear as a thick letter "N" on the jewelry along with the + sign. This mark is then accompanied by the designer's name or initials." What the photographs do not depict is how shiny and bright the silver is with no tarnish or signs that anyone ever wore this ring. It is in mint mint mint condition.
