This is a unique handcrafted Hopi Overlay Pendant with Gold nuggets and a Jade Cabochon. The Hopi's developed their distinctive style of jewelry in the 40's Hopi silver overlay jewelry is started with 2 layers of silver. A design is drawn on one sheet of silver and then carefully cut out by hand. This top layer is then soldered to the bottom layer . Texturing is then added to the cut out bottom layer in the open design, This is a beautiful textured bird flying through the moon. This jeweler added a beautiful bird with a Jade Cabochon sort-of to the stomach and then added a Quarter Moon with the nugget gold. They finish the piece by buffing and polishing to a mirror like finish. The initials on the back for the maker is LHL someone I am not familiar with. Oh to be able to make jewelry like this!! It will come in a velvet bag and gift box. This bird is flying from the High Plain of Kansas!
