This 25 1/2 inch by 29 inch scarf or piece of lace (which ever you want to call it) is a piece of Hardanger work. It is a cross between embroidery and cut work, primary done in Sweden and Norway. It is very intricate and takes a very long time. This is a light ivory white. This was very popular in Victorian and Edwardian Times. Very Hard to do. This piece has a worn corner that could use patching. A small corner picture shown. I hadn't noticed and you could use it this way. In Northern Kansas we have a community Smith Center KS, whose women are well known for their Needle-work. They have wonderful embroidery and crochet work. From Kansas to you.
