A beautiful and most unusual antique double sauce or gravy tureen made from English silver plate in the late Victorian era, around 1880.
Beautifully shaped, the tureen stands on four handsome Lion's paw feet with a decorative integral handle which would have been held by the butler while guests would have served themselves with the sauce of their choice.
My silversmith was clever enough to find me the perfect pair of antique ladles to accompany the dish, so a complete serving piece ready for use once again. Each of the ladles has a monogram of a single R on the handle.
The underside of the dish is where the makers mark can be found for EDWIN HOWARD & SON of Sheffield.
A beautiful and very usable piece in excellent condition. 9" x 9 1/4" x 6 1/2" tall; each ladle measuring 5 1/4" in length.
