An unusual example of a late Victorian / early Edwardian biscuit box or barrel made from solid English Oak. What makes this one stand out is the lovely decorative silver plated filigree frieze that runs around the barrel finished at the front with a vacant presentation shield.
The lid lifts to reveal the original ceramic liner in excellent clean condition.
Dating to c.1900 it remains in excellent condition. The diameter measures 5 1/2" in diameter x 7" tall to top of lid finial or 9" tall to top of handle while upright.
