A stunning and highly decorative biscuit box dating to around 1870, Victorian in era.
The box stands on four ball and claw feet supporting an integral pierced or reticulated tray. The box is beautifully decorated with repousse and hand chased panels of fruits and flowers.
The hinged lid fits well and is topped with a wheatsheaf finial. Either side of the box has a ring handle with a grand Lion's head back-plate, very English.
The underside is fully marked for the top-notch Sheffield silversmith, Henry Wilkinson and Co.
Beautiful quality and condition measuring 9 1/2" x 7 1/4" x 7 1/2" tall to top of finial.
