A most unusual Edwardian postage stamp case, the like I haven't had before. This slim case has a sliding little drawer that can be pulled out witht the use of the little cabochon Peridot stone to the front.
The lid is beautifully engine-turned with a vacant cartouche in the form of an artist's palette to one corner. When the drawer is opened, the double compartment configuration is revealed, the lavishly gilded interior is stamped "Patent".
There is a full hallmark for Birmingham 1905 together with the makers initials for the silversmith, Atkinson Brothers.
Excellent condition, measuring 2" x 1 1/2".
