Rarely found and this one is a gem, beautifully executed, exquisitely carved and having a really adorable face.
This figural black forest inkwell retains his original two glass eyes. The head if hinged and once opened reveal the little glass ink chamber (tiny chip) to the interior. The carved coopered barrel acts as a desk tidy for small bits and pieces, and would have held pen nibs etc. in the late Victorian era when it was created in around 1890 / 1900.
Excellent condition with the base measuring 7" x 5 1/2" x 9" tall.
