A fabulous and impressive biscuit box made from a hefty piece of Victorian English crystal with a variety of decorative deep cutting.
Created from three pieces (the base, box and lid), the silver plate remains in superb condition. The underside of the tray is where the full hallmark can be found for the well renowned silversmith, Martin Hall and Co.
The aperture that holds the glass is beautifully decorated with a combination of pierced or reticulated work and a continuous repousse foliate garland, the latter repeated on the lid. The lid is crowned with a figural finial of a young gentleman.
Excellent condition and dating to around 1870. The base measures 8 3/4" x 7 1/4" and standing 7 1/2" tall to top of finial.
