I have had similar Strawberry sets with the fixed shell-shaped dishes, this is a rarer, more sought-after type with the dishes being removable; these are usually made by the famous silversmith, James Dixon and Co. of Sheffield and this one is indeed.
These are very popular to serve cakes and biscuits and the sugar and cream used for tea, also impressive to serve all sorts of deserts.
A really wonderful set in excellent condition, measuring in total 17" in length x 7 1/2" wide x 8" tall to top of carrying handle. A solid, top-notch example dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890.
