Always the most desirable of egg cruets are these Basket Weave examples, hard to find and this one by the creme de la creme of silversmith, Elkington and Co.
The caddy holds the six original egg cups and is completed with six egg spoons which can either be held by the spoon bowl and to create a decorative display while in use or tucked underneath when stored away. The spoons are signed L B.
The top of the cruet has the full mark for Elkington and Co and the date letter for the year 1857, so a really early example by this highly collectible maker.
Excellent condition. The rim diameter measures 7" in diameter and stands 6" tall to top of handle while upright.
