A wonderful heavy cast brass Go-To-Bed vesta in the form of a Hare or Rabbit sporting his two little glass eyes, both intact. The underside has an impressed signature which I can't make out and don't want to disturb the antique patina.
Go-To-Bed's were made for exactly that use; a non-safety match would have been struck and placed in the hole which is in the base, this would produce enough light to get upstairs producing enough light to get to bed.
A terrific novelty collectible dating to the Victorian era, around 1860. The base measures 2" x 1 1/2" and stands 3 5/8".
