A late Victorian Strawberry set, the two shell shaped dishes would be piled high with summer Strawberries and served with caster sugar in the bowl and fresh cream in the jug or creamer.
When English Strawberries are out of season, I use these to serve cakes, biscuits, cookies and chocolates with the milk or cream in the jug and sugar for the tea or coffee, a really usable and stunning table top serving piece for any occasion.
The bases of the sugar and creamer are made to fit into the rings either side of the handle, and their interior's, gilded. The stand sits on four handsome ball feet.
The silversmith's initials are P & M for Parkin and Marshall of Sheffield, present on the underside of the dish.
Excellent condition, measuring 13 1/2" x 10" x 8 1/2" tall to top of handle.
