A fabulous and very elegant Tantalus with a silver plated frame standing on four original ball feet. The underside is where the full makers can be found for the top-notch silversmith, Atkin Brothers.
The working key requires a clockwise turn and the key then needs to be removed to open the lock, the lock barrel is then pushed away from you to release the bar covering the stoppers. The bar then snaps back when finished.
There are three fabulous large full hobnail cut decanters, all in superb condition. The front of the Tantalus has an integral shield shaped presentation mount.
Late Victorian in era, dating to around 1890, it remains in excellent condition ready for use. The frame measures 13 1/2" x 4 3/4" and standing 12 1/2" tall to top of handle; each decanter measures 3 1/2" square x 8 1/2" tall to top of stopper.
