A fabulous and highly unusual sterling silver desk set in the form of a daybed or chez lounge with standing on four incredibly elegant legs and all over figural repousse or embossed decoration. The silver is I believe originally Dutch 930 (Sterling) but with full English import marks for London 1899; the silversmith's initials for John George Smith are also present.
The seat is hinged and fits well with a snap shut when closed. the interior comprises of a central lidded compartment for postage stamps, one side has a removable ink chamber and the other side a removable sander or pounce.
A fabulous centrepiece for the inkwell collector or silver devotee looking for something different and highly collectible. Excellent condition, measuring 5 7/8" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" tall.
