A rare and particularly grand jewelry box, a rare combination of skills were used to produce this exquisite example. Covered in Amboyna, the most expensive timber in the world with it's tight curly burl in a deep Cognac colour. The top is decorated with a parquetry geometric design in various timbers surrounding the hand painted classical scene decoupaged with a gilded frame.
All the edges all the way around including the back are decorated with Penwork borders and finally the wonderful original classical feet and Lion's head handles finish of this piece. The box comes complete with a working tasselled key, once opened, the huge and very usable interior is revealed ready for use. It has been professionally re-lined in a deep green velvet with two large fitted trays.
