A good Victorian sterling silver novelty vesta case modelled in the form of a working whistle. The tubular form is decorated with all over foliate engraving surrounding a central vacant cartouche to the front.
The lid is sprung, opening and then snaps shut once closed, the top of the lid with a strike.
The silver has a full English hallmark for London 1892, the other side having the makers initials for the top-notch silversmith, Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings -Frank Shepherd.
Excellent condition measuring 2 1/8" x 7/8".
