A wonderful early Victorian sterling silver letter opener, the handle beautifully decorated with engraving, surrounding a small central cartouche, one side engraved with the original owner's initials, looking like CC.
The handle and blade are both hallmarked for Birmingham 1841 together with the makers initials for the silversmith Taylor and Perry. The Queen Victoria's head duty mark is also present, always a highly prized addition to the hallmark.
Excellent condition measuring 9 1/4" long.
