A wonderful late Victorian inkwell or inkstand, dating to around 1890. The plinth is made from solid English Oak with a central Octagonal cut-out to fit the cut crystal inkwell with hinged silver plated lid (old wear to the interior).
There is a mount to the rear of a garden or rural gate in silver plate with a boy jumping off which is washed in gold (gilded). The front has two supports for resting one's dip pen.
Most unusual and in excellent condition. 6 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" tall.
