A most unusual Victorian games board, dating to around 1860, found here in England but French in origin.
It consists of two separate boards, one each side, one for Chess or Draughts, the other for French Draughts or Checkers (Jeu de Dames) which consists of a 10 x 10 pattern (100 squares). The other side is of course the more standard 8 x 8 Chess configuration.
The Jeu Des Dames side of the board has sliding lidded compartments containing the original 20 checkers required for the French Checkers, which are included with the board.
I have also photographed the Chess side with a Chess set, NOT included in this sale but will be listed separately.
I pulled of some information and rules for French Checkers on the internet and will include these with the piece.
A wonderful piece for the advanced collector in excellent condition. Measures 17 1/4" x 13 3/4".
