A very handsome inkstand or desk set, dating to the late Victorian era, around 1900.
A lovely quality piece by top English silversmith, Mappin & Webb and stamped on the top or the stand. Standing on four original bun feet, the stand is galleried, with scroll sides and the centre of the back having an inverted heart motif.
The two crystal inkwells have the ever-popular hobnail cut to the underside and silver plated collars and hinged lids, marked EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.
Superb condition, the stand has a footprint measuring 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and standing 3 1/2" tall to top of heart motif; the inkwell measures 1 7/8" square x 2" tall.
