For the equestrian collector or horse racing devotee, this figural cruet set is made from the most famous silver plate manufacturer, Elkington & Co., with a date letter for the year 1878.
The base is a horseshoe shape with a spur terminal on the handle. At the front is an upturned Jockey's cap as an open salt with a gilded interior. The mustard and pepper are in the form of riding boots and in between a conical shaped holder which is in fact for Cayenne Pepper with a tiny spoon attached to the lid.
The front of the horseshoe is where the full Elkington mark can be found. Excellent condition, measuring 5" x 4" x 3 3/4" tall.
