A really fabulous example of a mid-nineteenth century spoon box, later filled with Dutch silver spoons marked for 1928, the box is of course around 1860/1870.
In quite wonderful condition, the shaped box is covered in exquisite antique tortoise shell with a thick bevelled glass lid. Standing on four bone bun feet, the box is beautifully lined in an Ice Blue velvet and a Powder blue silk. The contents consist of twelve Dutch silver spoons and two tea caddy spoons in the centre.
The box is in near pristine condition, one minor old hairline to one side, secure and insignificant. 7 1/2" x 6" x 2 3/8" tall.
