An exquisite box in one of my favourite timbers, decorative and distinctive Partridgewood.
The top is mounted with a decoupaged oval panel with the most charming of subjects, featuring a reclining mother with her child playing a tambourine.
The box opens to reveal a refreshed interior, re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper, creating a fresh and very usable finish. The box comes complete with a working tasselled key.
The box remains in superb condition (a couple of old hairlines running from the central oval panel - almost invisible to the naked eye but shown and mentioned purely for accuracy. Dating to c.1820, nearly 200 years old. 9 1/4" x 7 1/4" x 4 1/4" tall.
