Celebrating it's 110th birthday this year, this fabulous large and heavy sterling silver cigar case is quite a showy piece.
The back is concave, created this way to fit into a pocket contouring to the body.
The case is beautifully decorated with all over engraving both back and front. The front has the original decorative monogram into the cartouche, the two intertwined initials I think are H and M and the date Nov. 1st 1904 below, obviously gifted on this day.
The push button clasp and sprung hinge are both in excellent working order and once opened the original gilded interior is revealed. The hallmark for Sheffield 1903 is present together with the makers mark for the top-notch English silversmith, Walker & Hall.
A heavy piece weighing 5.48 Troy Ounces / 170.5 Grams. 5 3/8" x 3 1/4" while closed; the inside would hold a cigar with a maximum length of 5".
