Antique English Equestrian Oak & Silverplate Dinner Gong c.1890/1900
A fabulous and most unusual dinner gong made from solid English Oak and silver plate, the gong itself supported by two grand Antler horns.
The top is crowned with a pair of crossed riding crops with the gong secured here. The cord has been replaced as these are always on their last legs if they are present at all. I have left some length on the back making it easier to shorten if it stretches with time also making it easy to remove for polishing the gong if necessary. Just give the gong a straighten up after shipping so that it doesn't get in the way of the horns.
The gong comes with a wooden headed strike again with a riding crop handle. Perfect for the horse lover, jockey or equestrian enthusiast.
Excellent condition. The wooden base measures 13 1/2" x 8 1/2" and stands 13 1/2" tall. Late Victorian in era, dating to around 1890/1900.
