For your consideration is this collection of Rio Hondo California Pottery Mid Century Horse Pony & Pink Dog Figurines. The horse ~ pony was made by Rio Hondo California pottery Circa 1940s. This is a sweet little Rio Hondo horse figurine was made in California USA. Made in the 1940s and can be seen on page 185 of Jack Chipman’s California Pottery Scrapbook. According to Chipman, Rio Hondo copied a piece originally made by West Coast Pottery. This was a common practice with several pottery companies, making pieces that were similar but not exact copies of another company's popular design. This adorable collectible horse stands 3-1/2” high and is 4" in length. The little pony is done in brown details on an ivory background. His nostrils, mouth, and ears have a pinkish hue color. This little guy has no chips or cracks. There is fine crazing of the glaze over the whole piece as would be expected on an over 70 year old piece. The naughty pink peeing dog is also a California Pottery piece circa 1950-60's. This whimsical fellow has a soft pink glaze and seems right at home as as he lifts his leg to relieve himself. Standing 3" tall and 4-1/2" in length he has a tiny chip on the backside of his tail, it is not seen when displayed and he is so adorable we felt he needed to be offered with his pony friend. We have priced the set accordingly. Enjoy!
