This is a vintage find that I discovered yesterday at an amazing Estate Sale in the resort town of Lake Geneva Wisconsin. The estate was amazing, but more important so is this find!! This is a solid wooden shoe form or last used by cobblers to hold shoes for display. This piece has a gorgeous rich deep patina and is marked CABOT, the "lady of the home" explained to me that she used it as a display in her "guest powder room" which had been decorated in "old world French". Research shows CABOT means ""wooden shoe", which comes from the Old French cabot"". This is marked with a size of 8D both tooled into the wood and in the incredibly elegant font on the side. The name "Woodright" is on the other side with the date of Jan 9 (?) 1951 or 1961, see photos. This piece measures 10 3/4" in length, 3 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" tall, it weighs 1 lbs and 6 ounces. ENJOY!!
