PAIR of oils on beveled edge thick wood pine panel, each 11 3/4" by 6 1/4" (and 1 7/8" wide silvery modern era frames), each signed at lower right in flowing script "MORA", not dated but probably circa 1880's to 1890's. There are a number of artists listed with this name but so far I can't definitively attribute these to one of them. The paintings are very sensitive, beautifully handled studies of two ladies of the countryside, one wearing a beautiful lace scarf, the other with a cloak around her shoulders and a rose in her hair. The paintings are unvarnished and clearly old, with some light surface wear in a number of areas, but, cleaned and varnished, I wouldn't expect the old authentic wear to be a problem at all. One panel is slightly warped in a torsion type effect. These are fine examples of European nineteenth century painting that could add to any interior. SEE HUNDREDS OF WORKS NOW IN MY RUBY LANE SHOP.
