Oil on canvas classic western landscape in early autumn, 22" by 28", unframed, signed at lower right in red "Claudine Morrow". This is a poetic scene including two horses, poplars, a shallow deep blue river, and wind shredded clouds over the high west. The artist, born in 1931, is listed in the comprehensive Contemporary Western Artists by Samuels. Her bio there says she was born in Kansas and moved to Arizona. She lived all over the west when young, and studied with Odon Hullenkramer in Santa Fe. Paintings by the artist often feature Hopi and Navajo subjects, including portraits in expansive landscapes. The painting has a pair of small tears at extreme left (see corresponding reverse patch) and a scuff/abrasion in upper sky. .
