Collectible Picasso poster for an exhibition in early 1956 at the Galerie Lucie Weill in Paris. Size is 24 1/2" by 16 3/4". There is a narrow inexpensive black frame, and no glass. On the reverse of the framing materials is written in pencil, "Picasso/Papiers colles dessin M.F./photolitho 67 x 46 cm./1000 copies". I researched this poster in a definitive book on Picasso's posters, and that book confirmed that this was done in a run of 1000 copies. This does not appear to be a free piece of paper........it feels as if it's always been on a stiff board. Condition is acceptable, with surface soiling. I have a photo of some yellowish faint parallel marks in the field at upper left. I can't be sure, but I think they could possibly be part of the design.........there might also be light cream aspect of parts of the background as opposed to bone white.....or it could be paper yellowing. From any reasonable viewing distance, these flaws, if they are flaws, are not obvious. The poster is without glass and has evidently been in this state for some time, accounting for the dust soiling. A camel's hair brush will remove most of it. I think that's the best condition description I can give, as it's difficult to impossible to photograph the flaws. In photo #2, area at right is shadow of my hand, not a stain. Feel free to call me to discuss.
