This is an early twentieth century print, titled "La Falaise d'Orbigny--Bretagne", from the hand of listed French artist GUSTAVE LEHEUTRE (1861-1932), sometimes called "the French Whistler". It is plate signed and pencil signed at lower right by the artist and bears another pencil inscription including "No. 39" at lower center. The artist is known today generally for his output of drypoints and lithographs. Unfortunately, while photographing this outdoors to improve upon the original set of images I had on the Ruby listing, a freak gust of wind blew this violently into my hand and the brittle browned unsupported paper ripped through the sky area, resulting in serious damage. At this point I want this to go to a good home, to someone who would just like to add this to a scholarly "collector's collector" collection of Leheutre's works; make me an aggressive offer.
