Watercolor landscape inscribed at lower left, "(Mt.) Ruapehu fr. the verandah Creek Run", dated June 7, 1887 at lower right and initialed there, and signed on the back and titled again. Mt. Ruapehu is a mountain on New Zealand's North Island, now the site of a major ski area. I can't read the name of the artist but he or she was talented with watercolor. This little gem has survived nearly 120 years in amazingly good condition; it looks as if it was created yesterday. New Zealand art of the 19th century is rather scarce and desirable. .
